Exciting news for June 2017- I am absolutely thrilled to be exhibiting with three amazing award winning portrait painters, namely Gilly Lovegrove, Felicity Gill and Andrew James at the Trinity Theatre Gallery in Tunbridge Wells from 5th-18th June.
In March 2016 my painting of ‘Wilson’ was featured on the front cover of the SAA’s PAINT magazine and they interviewed me for an inside spread- thanks Sarah!
In April and August of this year I travelled to Liverpool to film with Arttutor who provide online art video courses. They have over 30 tutors and when you join you get instant access to all courses - well worth it (please see links on seperate page). Thankyou to Phil and Jonathan for making it such a memorable experience, I hope to be seeing more of you in the near future!
|2016 will be my second year with Hesham and Elizabeth Hassan. They have a lovely, modern home, Les Lauriers, in the beautiful Limousin region of South West France, in the pretty village of St Mathieu.
Set within the Perigord-Limousin National Park just five kilometres from the Dordogne in South West France, It is a beautiful relaxed area of rural France, full of charm and character. There are many lakes, rolling hills and valleys, rivers, historic towns, Gothic Churches, beautiful hamlets, chateaux and local markets just short car rides away which give ample inspiration to paint outdoors.
Everyone is welcome from beginners to improvers and because the painting groups are small (numbers are limited to a maximum of six), with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, I’m sure everyone will fit right in! I know Hesham and Elizabeth will make your holiday one to remember. Elizabeth is a keen amateur artist herself and Hesham is an enthusiastic and very competent cook.
What’s included in the price?
Art at Les Lauriers 2016 painting holidays cost from just £720 (£200 at time of booking and remainder to be paid 8 weeks prior to arrival).
Elizabeth and Hesham offer an all-inclusive, excellent value for money holiday. Seven night’s accommodation in comfortable surroundings with charming hosts, 5 days painting with a qualified and experienced tutor, all food and drink, transfers to and from Limoges, private minibus to take you to locations and free Wi-Fi and onsite parking.
*Please be aware that the price does not include flights/rail and that you are responsible for making your own travel arrangements. Please visit art at Les Lauriers website for more details
2014 was a good year for me, having ‘BigBaby’ accepted by the pastel society to exhibit at the Mall galleries was pretty fantastic and winning the Faber-Castell prize was just the icing on the cake!
On the back of that I was approached by The Pastel Journal of America asking if I’d like to contribute to an article about painting pastel animal portraits- I bet you can guess what I said!
After that I took a small group to France for a painting holiday in the Limousin. Needless to say we had a great time with our hostess and good friend Elizabeth, and as a joint venture and hopefully going concern with Elizabeth and Hesham, will be offering painting holidays from June 2016.
Later in the summer I was selling my wares at Honnington country fair and was
fortunate enough to meet Vanessa and Michael. They do an amazing job looking after the horses and donkeys at the Sussex Horse Rescue Trust at Hempstead Farm in Uckfield. The Trust is a sanctuary for horses, ponies and donkeys but they are always looking for more support. For a great day out you can visit on their open days or simply give donations or sponsorship which raises much needed revenue to be used towards the care of the animals. I am in the process of producing paintings of all the donkeys to use as artwork for cards, prints, stickers etc that can be bought from the trust.
The Trust is a Registered Charity and can be found on the Charity Commission
Over the last few summers we’ve had some lovely days out painting en plein air. I’m glad to report we’ve had no difficulties with the weather it’s actually been pretty perfect! We had a lovely day at Orchard End last year, and Chilstone and Marle Place this year. I am always delighted with the enthusiasm and turnout for the workshops; it’s just wonderful as the day progresses to see the work produced and at such a high standard!
